Remember when you were considering internet business opportunities? What did it feel like? So much “stuff”, everybody had a system or a sure fire plan, and I’ll bet you had some questions. I know I did.
The top (3) on my list were:
- Is it easy?
- Does it work?
- Can I do it?
Now the words may vary slightly from person to person but the gist is the same. We’re all afraid of failure and getting ripped off. It’s a natural survival instinct shared by all. At least when a question is asked it means there’s some thought going on. I’d rather see that than some one blindly leap into an opportunity.
How do you answer those “survival” questions, especially considering the fact that you don’t know the people asking? Well, they don’t know us either!
One tactic I believe is very effective is to try to understand what is really being asked, and rephrase the question or make a conditional response in this manner.
Question: Is it easy?
Rephrase: If you are asking is it simple, the answer is it is simple. It is simple because you will have excellent training and resources available to help you learn the skills you will need; (assuming that your opportunity offers that). It is not “easy” because it is an internet business opportunity and will require work just like any other business.
Question: Does it work?
It’s really hard to tell exactly what is behind the question but I would take this approach.
Rephrase: Answer the question as if your prospect was asking if your business was successful. At this point you will have to supply your own answer based on your particular business’ success.
Question: Can I do it?
Conditional response: You possibly can if…
Rephrase: The real question is this, are you willing to do it? Are you willing to take the time to learn the skills and apply them to your business? Are you willing to continue until you are successful?
Stressing the business perspective and the learning as well as earning should pretty much cover what needs to be said at this point. You answers have some “meat” and your prospect has some food for thought.
Internet business opportunities, as you know, have two sides. There is the learning the business in order to be successful side that is usually not considered. Initially most questions will just concern the success side.
To summarize, the “will this work for me easily” question can be very briefly, but accurately, answered simply by giving the answer to the unasked or should be asked question. Sometimes it will save a lot of heartache and grief for everyone.
