Earlier this year I partnered with a network marketing company called LifePath Unlimited. At the time I was shocked to learn that about 95% of people who start home based businesses fail to make any serious money. There are obviously a number of valid reasons to explain this shocking statistic. However a key reason is how one goes about marketing. Even within my own company, that is, Lifepath Unlimited, I notice that its business partners vary in their choice of marketing strategies.
Old school marketing strategies have been around for a long time. It includes such things as placing ads in the newsprint and electronic media, passing out brochures and business cards, buying leads, cold calling, attending meetings and recruiting family and friends. Within LifePath Unlimited there are many who continue to use such approaches.
New school marketing strategies focus on the use of the Internet and use attraction marketing. There are at least 27 ways to advertise on the Internet. They include using websites including squeeze pages, use of video and article writing, using social network sites like FaceBook, pay per click advertising such as Google Adwords and more. LifePath Unlimited business partners use all of these strategies. Perhaps most dominant is Google Adwords to drive traffic to ones websites.
From my observation of the top performers in LifePath Unlimited and indeed other companies as well, it appears that they tend to favor the new school marketing strategies.
Now why does it make a lot of dollars and cents to go for new school marketing strategies, even exclusively? Simply because by doing so, you are leveraging your efforts. It means in short, that you maximize the bang for your buck. My LifePath Unlimited mentor tells me that its better to work smart than just hard.
An important cutting edge in the advertising world today is what is called attraction marketing. The philosophy behind it is to provide the prospective customer with quality information so that they can persuade themselves to buy your products. People generally don’t want to be sold to, but they do like to buy. As a LifePath Unlimited associate, I am doing research every day to be able to provide quality information to share with my prospective business partners.
Attraction marketing seeks to provide valuable information to the consumer. In doing so, you the business owner, presents yourself as an expert in the field. As your name and the quality of the information you provide becomes known by consumers, trust is built. The actual product that you offer to consumers is at the back end in the form of say a back link to your website. Currently as a business owner with LifePath Unlimited I am writing articles such as this one with back links to my website.
Any body who is anybody in LifePath Unlimited uses attraction marketing. By doing so, it sets you up to be seen as a leader in your specific field. People come running to you rather than you going to them. How good is that for the future of your business? This is the path I am definitely heading as I work my LifePath Unlimited business.
